Apple’s Ping Sows the Seeds of Facebook’s Demise

Facebook is the cool site to hate these days, because while you just know they are going to come up with yet another appalling way to violate your privacy, you keep going back, because, well, all your friends are already there. It’s like a giant party that no one is having very much fun at, but no one wants to leave because there ain’t nothing going on anywhere else. Of course, you could have said the same thing about MySpace back in 2006, and Friendster before that. Her Morning Elegance by Oren Lavie

This music video for the song “Her Morning Elegance” by Oren Lavie garnered the front page at Yahoo! today. Stop-motion video may be old hat, but this is one of the more creative uses of it that I’ve seen. It doesn’t hurt that the song isn’t bad, either.

Free Mysto & Pizzi Download From GEICO

If you’ve turned on a TV lately, you’ve seen GEICO’s “Kash” spots, wherein Kash, a silent bundle of bills with glass eyeballs balanced on top unsettles some person in a meeting, restaurant, or subway car. The music for these spots is a remake of Rockwell’s 1980′s hit “Somebody’s Watching Me”, and GEICO has made the entire track available for free download here. GEICO’s commercials have a history of using some music that is off the beaten track, so to speak. Their “Caveman” spots feature music by Royksopp, and they used Alexandre Geindre’s “Lonesome Magic Vice Harvest” in a popular spot featuring dogs. However, as far as I know, this is the first time that GEICO has actually commissioned a track for a spot, and then made that track available for free download.

Don’t feel like downloading the track without listening to it first? Well, here ya go:
