Mike Celizic: CBS Wrong With Tebow Ad

Mike Celizic of NBCSports.com has an interesting post on CBS’s decision to accept anti-abortion advertising from conservative evangelical group Focus On The Family featuring University of Florida football star Tim Tebow. He’s dead on when he says that the only reason CBS is taking this ad is that the market is soft for advertising in general and for 30-second spots that cost two and a half million dollars in particular. Unfortunately, there’s really no downside for CBS – who’s not going to watch the Super Bowl because of one commercial? Still, I wish the Good Without God folks or the Atheist Bus Campaign could afford to pay for a rejoinder ad. Actually, what I really wish is that CBS could keep political and religious advertising off the air during an event that has nothing to do with either.

The Natives Are Resting…

The defending DNFL champions are defending no longer. After beginning the season 4-0, my Provoked Native Americans completed a New York Met-esque collapse this weekend with a devastating lost the the Kung-Fu Fighters, who added insult to injury by claiming the final playoff spot the PNA had been holding onto going into the last weekend of the regular season. On the bright side, I won $70 in the office NFL pool this week. Next year, I’ll have a semi-decent draft pick, picking sixth in a snake draft out of twelve teams, and I still have Maurice Jones-Drew and Greg Jennings as keepers. Good luck to all the remaining managers in the playoffs!

DNFL Inter-Conference Play Follow-Up

So, Fantasy Football Week 7 has come and gone, and with it, the first annual DNFL Inter-Conference face-off. This year, Conference 1 has won handily, going 8-3-1 according to the unofficial scoring. I made a video celebrating a particularly poignant win for a hard-luck conference 1 team. You can see it after the jump… Read more…

Fantasy Football Smack-libs! (TM)

I play fantasy football in a 2-conference, 24-team league. It’s kind of unusual as fantasy football leagues go, since each conference is essentially its own league, a player can be on a roster in each conference. Despite this, we do have a week of inter-conference play every year, and this is the week! During this week, the smack talk heats up, with people who aren’t used to running smack attempting to do so. In an attempt to help fantasy football owners with absolutely no message board game, I came up with a special service. After the jump, you can read the post I made to our message board on DNFL Snack-libs! (TM). Read more…
